Whāriki Hauora

Whāriki Hauora is a mental health support initiative specifically created for the Aoteroa arts sector by Taurima Vibes in collaboration with Taimi Allan and the mental health organisations, Mind and Body and Changing Minds. We began our journey some six years ago with a sector-wide wananga at Te Pou Theatre. Over the past few years, our capabilities have shifted and changed. Our underlying aim continues to respond to what we see is missing for our creative sector- actual affordable, tangible support! This is our koha to you-

If you or anyone you know needs support just follow the next 3 steps:

3. And finally, read this info :-)

How do we fund Whāriki Hauora?

Unfortunately, we do not currently have full financial support and rely on fundraising, potential sponsorship, and koha or donations.

We have been able to raise a significant funding pool over the past few years and will continue to search for further financial support. The small amount each participant pays for a session will go directly back into the Whāriki Hauora funding pool to help keep it afloat.

We welcome any queries about potential financial support! They can be directed to twk@taurimavibes.co.nz. and we will respond asap :-).

HOW

How much does it cost?-

Peer support appointments can often be expensive and unobtainable. As part of Mind and Body’s koha to Whāriki Hauora, they have given a large discount that brings the full cost to $65 per session. Whāriki Hauora will subsidise this cost so that Whāriki Hauora participants will pay only $15 per session!

Just contact Mind and Body directly and mention that you are wanting to connect as part of Whāriki Hauora. No need to be wary because once you make contact everything will be kept confidential. Mind and Body will look after you and guide you through the next steps!

Kia mau ki te tūmanako, te whakapono me te aroha

Hold fast to hope, faith and love

GENERAL SERVICE INFO

How many times can you engage?-

Once you have been through the admission process and chosen a peer support worker, all participants have the opportunity to visit a peer support worker up to 6 times max.

If the peer support worker feels a referral to further services will be beneficial, they will discuss it with the participant and guide them through the appropriate steps.

If a participant or peer support worker feels more than 6 appointments would be beneficial, the peer support worker will submit a request to Mind and Body and Taurima Vibes. Decisions will be made on a case to case basis and request will be responded to within 5 days.
