KĀTI

Kāti! To stop!. Kāti is an opportunity to look at how we face inequity. Inequity has a multifaceted facade, it can include, intolerance, bigotry, racism, misogyny. We don’t have answers but we aim to find tangible avenues for discourse, networking, and advocacy.

Infiltration, listening, hearing and hope can be powerful tools for beneficial change. How can we learn from each other? What can we do to address pressing issues? Let’s explore that together and build a platform that will resonate with our whole community.

SO, Nau Mai!!!

Below you will find the fruits of our first koha! We sat down with a few friends and asked them about their experiences with discrimination. Have a gander at our trailers and if you want to see more, then click on the video portal to see the full interviews!

Trailer #1

As you will see, all the interviews come from varied perspectives, backgrounds, and cultures. One of our aims has always been to help counter the stigma and discrimination associated with mental health and we understand that these stigmas have multiple lenses.

In the portals below, you’ll discover other gems that we hope you find helpful. As we gather momentum (#money lol) our guest blogs and vlogs will be uploaded regularly, and our research articles, tips, and tricks will fatten up!!

What will Kāti become? Who knows! That’s the exciting part. We aim to find ways to create avenues for active change. It will be a big journey but one we’re ready for!

The arts industry has not historically been an open supportive space when dealing with the hauora needs of its community. Let’s be part of the movement and encourage active change. Some progress has been made recently, but there is still a long way to go!

Trailer #2

Our friends from Nōku Te Ao Like Minds have gifted us the following whakaaro:

Being judged or discriminated against for who we are or what we have been through affects our mental health.

Being further discriminated against for living with mental distress or illness is just another heavy load to carry.

Listen, support and include the people in your life who are experiencing mental health challenges. Being there to listen in a non-judgemental way is sometimes all our loved ones need.
