2022 Puna Pūtea | Social Action Grants

Being pre-judged or discriminated against for living with mental distress or illness is unjust, unfair, and harms Aotearoa as a whole – and it’s also a known barrier to recovery.

That’s why we’ve developed the Puna Pūtea or Social Action Grants: grants of up to $40,000 awarded to individuals, organisations and community, hapū or iwi groups. These grants will fund projects that challenge the unfair judgments and discrimination those of us with mental distress or illness can face.

Our Journey

Te Whakawhirinaki Kete will collaborate, share, research, develop and curate online resources that are accessible to anyone in need, whilst tailored to the creative community experience. We aim to help anyone who finds us, to navigate and strengthen their hauora and wellness needs

As we flourish, our aim is to grow technologically, working with experts to help us thrive. To create an accessible resource centre that has tangible, active, and live tools with no financial barriers. So FREE!!!!

The way that TWK will be developed and used is underpinned by three key principles:

Tikanga and Mātauranga Māori

Our mahi, the resources we develop and relationships will be grounded in Tikanga and Mātauranga Māori to help nourish cultural and spiritual wellbeing. Through these principles, we understand the importance of balancing the many dimensions of being, that support Hauora.

Creative Nourishment

Our resources whilst primarily evidence-informed will embrace creative innovation and will be customised to engage the creative community. Our kete will reflect the diversity of Aotearoa’s creative disciplines to proactively nourish creative wellness.

Connection and Community

TWK aims to create space for connectivity across our creative communities. Our communities will be supported to connect and to access peer support. They will be able to share experiences, curate knowledge, and help inform resources.
