Podcasts stimulate different parts of the brain, forcing us to actively listen, especially if it's a topic we're truly interested in! Another great benefit of listening to podcasts is that you can learn new things. They’re immediate and you can engage anytime, on-call and whilst you're doing other tasks.

While we work on our cooooooool as TWK contribution, have a gander at the offerings below! We’re aware that there are already some brilliant wellness podcasts or podcasts created for and by arts practitioners, with evocative wellness/Hauora content OR BOTH! Take ya pick or let us know if you know of any others we can support!

Just Listen

Just Listen is a seven-part mental health podcast series, exploring how to support a person in serious and ongoing mental distress. Six New Zealanders and their support people share their mental health journey and challenges with journalist and host Juliette Sivertsen, with the final episode featuring an expert panel to discuss kindness, boundaries, mindfulness and self-care. These candid conversations aim to get people comfortable talking about mental health, to share stories of people living with a mental illness, and to discuss some of the helpful and not-so-helpful things some of us do and say when trying to help a person in distress. Together, we can work to better support people in our communities, and learn to just listen. Funded by the Mental Health Foundation of NZ, Like Minds Like Mine, supported by NZME.

Crazy Grief

“After the death of my husband, grief hit me like a tsunami. I feared I was losing my mind. For the sake of my kids, I had to find a way to cope, but I didn't know how. My ideas about grief didn't match my experience and I was often told to move on. But I've discovered there is no moving on, only moving forward carrying our grief with us. Crazy Grief is as a safe space for real, unpolished, candid conversations about grief, and all the crazy stuff that comes with it. Because when we have to care for our kids while grieving the death of our life partner, we need all the encouragement we can get.”

On the cusp of 50, she imagines her ovaries are about to retire and wants to know everything about it in advance. So what better way to navigate her moisture moving from inside her body to perspiring out her face than by talking to a series of wondrous women and owners of ovaries about their own journeys?
